Coyote
Status: Least Concern
Though close relatives with the Gray Wolf, Coyotes are much smaller and don’t live in packs. Still, they appreciate social interaction with other coyotes and sometimes work together to hunt large prey. They have an amazing sense of smell and can locate prey scurrying below snow. They can run at speeds up to 40 miles per hour and can jump distances up to six feet. Due to their exceptional ability to adapt, coyotes do very well in most environments and now live in a variety of habitats across the Americas.
