Swamp Wallaby
Status: Least Concern
The Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) is a small, stocky marsupial found on the Eastern side of Australia. Wallabies are physically and behaviorally different from Kangaroos but share much of the same habitat. Swamp Wallabies are herbivores, often able to eat plants that are toxic to other animals.
Marsupials are pouched mammals. The babies are born underdeveloped and about the size of a jellybean. They make their way to the mother’s pouch where they will remain to complete their development. A baby wallaby is known as a ‘Joey’.
