Ring-tailed Lemur
Status: Endangered
Ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) are a primitive form of primate found only in the southern half of Madagascar. They live in family groups made up of females, their offspring and approved males. Ring-tailed Lemurs spend more time on the ground than other Lemur species and also eat more animal protein than some others. They also eat leaves, bark, fruit and flowers. Ring-tailed lemurs communicate vocally, through scent gland markings, tail waving, and facial expressions.
